Blue and white is one of my favorite color schemes in decorating. I've collected blue and white dishes for years, particularly Blue Willow, and the color combination is still fresh and pretty. It's perfect for summer.
The mauve and country blue that I decorated my very first kitchen in (complete with a duck theme) didn't last, but I think blue and white is classic and timeless. Some things never go out of style.
Here are some examples of blue and white in my own kitchen. I think plates are a great way to decorate a wall.
This is the mosaic that I made behind my kitchen sink
How was your first kitchen decorated? I'm curious to know if anyone else fell victim to the mauve and blue trend in the 80s like I did.

I'm a blue and white fan too! :)
In the 80's I still lived at home but in the 90's we had TONS on mauve and teal...everywhere in our home! Ugh....now I have lots of earthy colors...greens, browns, blues and even some orange!! I do love the blue and white plates and kitchens!!
Very nice. I love blue and white.
My first kitchen in the late 90's was Bright Blue, Bright Yellow & White. My next kitchen in the early 2000's was black & tan. Now I've transitioned out the black & have only brown tones remaining. In the past few months I've started to incorporate some robins egg blue and looking for some new dishes in that color scheme, as well.
So, I am older than the first comments...my first kitchen was avocado green and harvest gold. And in my present home, I unfortunately still have a bathroom that is blue and mauve. When other larger home projects are finished, those colors will be removed!!
I was a kid in the 80's, but I have not forgotten my mom's obsession with mauve. It was everywhere, and I thought is was so glamorous! ;)
I love the blue and white, too - I think it's timeless. I'm older, too, so my first kitchen (eary 70's) looked pretty much like Carol Brady's - with the addition of those plastic gllue on "bricks" as a backsplash. If you're under 45 or so, you probably don't even know what I mean (thankfuly!). They were a horror to keep clean as the brick color came off if you used any kind of cleaner on them.
My first kitchen was decorated in a cow theme! I was obsessed with it and it makes me laugh out loud when I think about it! :)
I have loved blue & white since I was 18 and used that as the basis of my decorating scheme for many years. It was not until I downsized and moved into my current home that I started veered away from it. I still decorate with blues but, with the exception of my collections containing cobalt, the other blues in my home basically reflect the varying colors of the sea.
