Greg and I went thrift shopping today. He and Peter are stationed near each other and are planning to move off base together into an apartment. They have NOTHING. Greg has been going through my kitchen taking coffee mugs, glasses, silverware, dish towels... We thought we might be able to find him something at the thrift store. We only had time to go to the one nearest our house and there weren't many bargains this time.
I did find a denim dress, two ties for Mike and a sweater (new with tags). Greg was rushing me, so I didn't get a chance to try on the dress. After I got it home he said I should take it back because in his words it looks "too Little House on the Prairie". Mike hasn't seen it yet, so I don't know what his opinion will be. What do you think? Should I take it back?

I really like it, but I wear lots of jumpers, etc. that most people wouldn't. I love the high waist on that!
I really like the dress. Because it is a bit fitted into your waist you could easily wear a sweater over it too so it would look like a skirt and shirt. I don't think it looks Little House at all.
I think it depends how long the dress is and what type of footwear you wear with it. I'm picky like that. If it hits mid calf and you are wearing socks I vote no. It looks like it fits you very well though! I love the sweater you found and the ties look like they are in great condition. I love thrift shopping.
I think it fits well & looks good - how do you feel wearing it?

Ugh.... That dress is bad. I agree with Greg. :-)

I like it because it seems to fit you very well. If you put some nice accessories with it and wear your hair down I think it will look lovely.
But as one commenter asked, How do you feel when wearing it? And--What does your husband think of it?
Blessings,

I think it fits you really well and I like it...but, will you feel nice in it knowing your husband doesn't like it? My husband is very easygoing but if there is an item of my clothing that he really doesn't like, I wouldn't be happy wearing it. I want to be attractive to him, know what I mean? :)
Thank you all so much for your advice! The dress is ankle length and I was thinking I would wear my black riding boots when it's cold, or some ballet flats when it's warmer.
Greg is my oldest son and he's the one who didn't like it. Mike (husband) said he did. But, since Greg AND my best friend (retrohousewife) both think it's bad I guess it will go back to the store. I'm not crazy about the sweater either once I tried it on. It gaps a little between the buttons. I think the lesson in this is NOT to buy anything wearable when my son is rushing me out the door. :)
At least the ties were a hit! :)
I like it...and think How cute it would be with a scarf...or just casual.....denimn dresses are getting harder and harder to find...IMHO...and if my dh liked it...I would keep it...
just my .02 ...Happy Valentines day.

Well, you know I will tell you the truth and I did, but it was only my opinion. I think you look so much more trendy and up to date in your Old Navy and Gap bargains. :-)
