In My Kitchen

I've been having fun posting this week from my kitchen at Happy to Be At Home. With kitchens on my mind, I thought I would share one of my "kitchen quirks" with you.

I stack my cute colorful everyday plates and bowls in a pattern. My husband thinks it's hilarious and loves to tease me about it. Even my girls got a giggle out of it when they first started helping me put up the dishes (they know how to stack them now like Mama likes them). I can't stand for them to be out of order! Weird, huh? I don't really mind other things that are out of order in the house, but I will re-stack the plates if the get out of order for some reason.

Please tell me I'm not the only one! You all stack things in patterns in your kitchen right? :)

*update*
The Happy to be at Home website has changed ownership and focus and my guest posts are no longer available.  So sorry about that!

I do! We have some plastic summer plates, bowls & cups--one set is stripes, the other polka dots, but all in the same colors. I stack them so that the colors match along the visible edges, and so that the polka dots line up. Silly and slightly OCD, but my kitchen is very well organized, lol. I even have to have all the labels lined up on canned goods in the pantry.

Okay, maybe it's a bit more than slightly OCD...

Love your blog!!

Oh, that's sooo cute! And you're not alone. We bought crockery in 2 colors, vanilla-yellow and chocholate brown, and I like to alternate colors when I stack the plates and mugs :))

Oh yeah, I have a special way of doing a lot of things. Your not weird. You have a preference and that's okay. Love the plates.. great colors!

I do the same thing. My husband thinks it's hilarious as well. Sometimes he will put the dishes away, his way, and then I'll go back and put them in their "special color coded order"... haha.

All my plates are white, but I can soooo see myself doing this. I am a fanatic about loading the dishwasher.
Face it, these are sometimes the only thing we have control over. And our families, though making us the brunt of jokes, need to realize that if it weren't for these quirks, that we'd be focusing on how imperfect THEY are! LOL!!!!!

I do, too! I've got a set of dishes in four colors, and I can't stand it if two of the same color are stacked together!

I don't stack by color but there has to be some kind of order going on.

Mine have to be in order by size and kids cups need to be seperate from adult cups, bottles seperate from that! LOL...we all have some strange thing we do! LOL

Of course! Stacking habits are what make a kitchen personal. :):):)

Uhhh... not so much. But everything I have is behind doors. Do you think I would be different if it was out in the open?

I got a chuckle out of this post. :) I guess I'm a little quirky too...not just in the kitchen though. When I stack washcloths and towels after folding them...the corners have to be PERFECTLY lined up. I have been known to refold them if one of the kids did the job and it wasn't just PERFECT. :) I don't have a linen closet so my towels and washcloths are out "in the open" where everybody can see them. LOL! So, yes, you're not the only "quirky" one. I'd say you and I have lots of good company! Cute post. :) Have a great day!
