3 Cheese Baked Penne

This is one of our favorite weeknight meals. It's quick and easy and serves 6 generously.




* 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (I use the dried kind)
* 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
* 2 cups part skim ricotta cheese
* 1 jar spaghetti sauce
* 1 lb ground hamburger
* 1 egg
* 1 lb Penne pasta
* 2 tsp dried parsley
* 1 tsp dried basil

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In medium saucepan, cook ground beef until browned; drain grease and add spaghetti sauce. Meanwhile boil pasta according to package directions.
2. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half the mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, egg, parsley and basil.
3. Lightly grease 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Layer pasta, sauce mixture and cheese mixture. Repeat layers. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese over top. Bake 20 minutes until hot and bubbly.

  3. This recipe is delicious! I saw something like it in the Kraft magazine and tried it. The family loves it! I love these dishes. They are filling and easy to make, yummy

  6. This recipe looks wonderful and I'm going to try it. I have to confess that I've not had much experience with ricotta cheese. Do you think it would work if I used cottage cheese instead?

  11. I have to chuckle every time I see an appetizing recipe on a blog. For the most part, I am not drawn to cooking/baking and eye candy for me is more crafty/home dec/fashion. Sometimes when bloggers throw in a recipe post, I don't even read it. But every so often, one gets me. (Like Rhoda at Southern Hospitality). This is another one of those recipes. Sigh, okay, okay, I'll probably try it this weekend. Let you know if I do.
