Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies


Here's another whole wheat cookie recipe. I promise your kids (and your husband) will love them. :) They are still cookies (so don't eat too many), but at least they have the added nutrition of whole wheat flour.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (I used 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped walnuts)

Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375ºF.
2. Mix sugars, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

  1. I've never tried completely whole wheat, but I have discovered that you can make almost any recipe half and half (all-purpose and whole wheat) and no one will be the wiser. Thanks for sharing a completely whole wheat recipe.

  2. Cookies are cookies! My mom used to grind up oatmeal and replace part of the flour with the oatmeal. We never knew the difference!

  3. I wonder if they would be too crappy if I made them with Splenda and brown sugar Splenda along with the whole wheat...

  7. Can't wait to try this recipe.
    My brother and I just ground about 20 lbs of wheat last Thursday night. I've got a new grinder it's a Kitchen Mill. I think it's amazing. I just learned to make bread last month using my kitchen aid mixer with the dough hook and we love it! I've started looking for more whole wheat recipes. Thanks.
