My family loves homemade flour tortillas. They taste so much better than the kind you buy at the grocery store and they're a quick and frugal addition to almost any meal. Today we had soft tacos.
Here's my secret recipe...
Tasty and delicious every time although not always perfectly round. :)
I've been meaning to try making these. I bet they are better than store bought!
ReplyDeleteOh I so need to try this!! Our favorite little tortillaria just closed and I am left trying to figure out a good new substitute!1
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post! I've been wanting to try homemade tortilla's for awhile now! Now I know just what to use :-D
ReplyDeleteMost of the time, I make our flour tortillas as well. I've never tried them with whole wheat flour, though, and I'd like to, for health reasons.
ReplyDeleteI just started making my own and I just want to say Thank God for youtube...hee hee. My husband likes flour tortillas better than corn and I was having a problem with them turning out more like pancakes...thickness wise. I finally gave up using the tortilla press and just started rolling them almost paper thin....THAT DID IT! Mine aren't circles either....don't know if I will ever get the circle thing down...lol.
ReplyDeleteLast year we were wanting to make some gorditas with corn tortillas, but we were out of them. So my enterprising husband got out the masa mix and made some. With corn ones, you're supposed to roll them out on plastic wrap, but I suggested he use waxed paper. Absolutely wrong! The ones that he rolled on the plastic wrap turned out beautifully, the ones on waxed paper tore and were a mess. And they were delicious.
ReplyDeleteoh my they do look good, hugs
ReplyDeleteHere's a good tip for making Tortilla Shells. Instead of messing with the plastic, cut a 1-gallon zip-top bag in half and line the base of a tortilla press with the plastic.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend that said hers looked like the shape of states instead of round. They are good any shape they're in!
ReplyDeleteOoh yummy! I'll have to look for this at my local store! Thanks for sharing!
