I'm so glad I found Show and Tell Friday at There is No Place Like Home! What a great idea!
Today I am sharing a picture of the quilt that hangs in my living room. It was hand quilted in the 70s by my husband's great grandmother (you can click on the picture to view it larger). She was very elderly at the time.

She used all sorts of scraps for the stars and they are mostly from old clothes. I don't know any of the stories behind the different fabrics because she died before my husband and I met. My mother-in-law has told me that she never wasted anything and made several beautiful quilts with scraps and old sheets.
I love this quilt and it is a joy to have it as a part of my everyday life and a symbol of our family heritage.

A beautiful quilt, and heirloom to treasure! Thank you for sharing.
Its lovely. I have a hand quilted quilt from my great grandmother too. It has so many diffrent colors and textures. It needs a wash though. :( Im kind of scared to wash it.
Such happy colors on that quilt...that's what my Great-Grandmother did too...we all had quilts made out of our old school clothes...it was fun to point out the fabrics and remember the outfit...I am a fifties fan too! Cute Blog!
Blessings,
Susie

Wow! What a treasure. I have one that my Grandmother made me when I graduated High School in the late 70's. But it's getting pretty tatered on the back. But I wouldn't part with it for nothing.
I love quilts and you have a treasure here!!
I love the design and colors:)

What a pretty quilt! I really like the colors and the originality, but I know it's even more special because of who made it.

What a pretty quilt. Don't you just love the bright colors? My grandmother made a quilt out of my grandfather's ties, isn't that cool. Unfortunately it got destroyed but they were sure creative back then.
I've given you an award over on my site.
I ♥ quilts!! I also love your blog design and the whole 50's housewife thing. You can tell from my blog--and my profile pic--that I like that sort of thing as well! :-)
