This week I want to share with you one of my favorite "make dos". We almost never buy the pictures that the kids have made at school. They are mediocre at best and always ridiculously expensive, so I have been doing "photo shoots" with my little point and click digital camera. I use Picasa to edit and play around with the pictures. It's free (much cheaper than Photoshop). They can't be worse than the school pictures. ;)
Yesterday we went to the park and took lots of pictures. I think they turned out cute and I didn't spend a dime.

I can't believe how big they are getting! Marcia is already almost as tall as I am.

I am sure that your pictures turn out better than the school's! What a great idea :-) You can even order them in whatever size you like right over the internet, or share them through the email. I am definitely using this idea. Thanks!

Well, you couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to shoot!
Good for you for being so creative! I thought I commented on this already but I guess I forgot to comment.
We had a friend who paid over $500 for his daughter's graduation pictures. We didn't pay anything but the cost of the film. A friend of ours took them and they were amazing!
Thanks for pointing this option out! So simple and cost effective, but I never thought of it myself.
I love how we can share ideas and know that even the most obvious tips may be big finds for some of us and our friends.
The photos you shared are really great and I would dare say that the close ups and others you took are way much better than the school environment poses.
Thanks again for sharing,

Oh I love those pics! You're right...school pics are always dull and don't capture the true character of our kids. I love your idea! :)
Great Idea. I would use it if my kids were still in school. You have some real talent.
I usually can't turn down school pictures of my kids. You are right, they are not very good pictures!
