Jackpot at the Thrift Store

The only thrift store near my house is a Goodwill and it has been really picked over lately. I haven't found a thing the last several times I've been there and I've been really discouraged. Marcia especially has been needing some clothes. She's outgrown little girl sizes and I am having to buy Junior sizes. She'll be taller than me before I know it. I'll the short (and dumpy) one in the house and I'm 5' 7"!

Monday, I went with my mom to our local Junior League's thrift shop and my faith in thrift stores has returned! :) This store normally has things priced higher than Goodwill, but the shop is clean and organized very well. It even smells nice! The day that I stopped in they just happened to be having a 50% off sale so everything was priced even better than Goodwill! I found several really nice things for the girls and me.

The picture is blurry, but maybe you can see what I bought. I bought an ankle length, dark denim skirt and a pair of Born shoes for myself. The shoes are really cute and will go with all sorts of outfits.

I bought Marcia a knee length denim skirt and two tops. Can't you just see that skirt with the sweater/shirt combo top and tights with her (fake) Uggs? She's wearing the red, long sleeved shirt today. It's from Old Navy.

Cindy got a darling striped sweater hoody (that she is wearing today) that is from Old Navy and a layered look pink long sleeved tee that says "Tiaras Make me Taller". :)

I paid $18 for all of it.

I'm going to try to find out how often they have those sales. I think it will be worth the drive to get such great bargains.

Gotta love being thrifty! I bought most of the furnishings/accessories for our addition from the Salvation Army (what I haven't "shopped from home.") Wish we had a Junior League thrift shop here....

I so miss the thrift stores I used to live by...the ones I've found here just haven't been nearly as good! Congratulations on such terrific finds!

Lucky you! What a blessing! I wish we had good thrift stores in our area but we really do not. When I go somewhere that does though--look out. Unfortunately, I rarely make it out of the book section! :)

When our job as housewives is to save money! When it happens and as amazingly as this it just is so much sweeter! Great job!

Just found your blog through another blogger. (love that!)
Next time you all go thriftin', pick me up, won't you? We could even do lunch. LOL
I love the "tiaras make me taller" thing. I'm going to embroider that on a shirt for my daughter (she's an Irish dancer and wears tiaras when she performs) :-)

That's awesome! The only thing Goodwill has in my size are groovy 1970's Muu-muus!

Tina, yes it probably is. :( There were several of these comments on different posts and I am having to go through and delete them all. If you happen to come across one that I haven't deleted yet, would you let me know?

I don't remember seeing this come through my Blogger updates. *sniffle* You sure did get a good haul. I know what you mean about the smell - some thrift stores (and used book stores too!) have that mildewy smell. And some are worse than that. LOL

I love the tiara quote and I bet most young ladies would. That is awesome!
