Clear Out the Clutter: Day 2

Yesterday in the Clear out the Clutter challenge hosted at Biblical Womanhood, I sorted through my girls' clothes (don't forget to enter the giveaway by Wednesday at midnight).

Today, instead of working in the house I worked in the van. Well, maybe I should say in addition to working in the house. I also did laundry and cleaned the guest bathroom. My van is a catchall. It's amazing how all the things we bring home from school and church never seem to make it into the house. :) I found a science fair board, flip flops, a jacket, Sunday shoes, a visor... And that's not counting the things I keep in the van on purpose like booster cables, first aid kit, and stadium seats. It's like a house on wheels sometimes.

Now that everything is out of the van I can tell how badly it needs to be vacuumed and washed. Hopefully I can get that done tomorrow.

They say you get a good idea about someone's home by looking in their car...ever since I heard that I've tried to keep the car tidy!

You've been busy! Very inspiring!

Love, Tina :)

Your van sounds like my daughter-in-laws car. She has four children and she homeschools but the older children take extra courses and are envolved with sports, etc. And it seems like the van is a place to store stuff in case you leave in a hurry. It has extra jackets, shoes, food and water bottles for just in case you forget something.

I guess for them, that works well but I personally like my car to look like my house...neat. My house may get dusty and need a vacuum run through it but anyone can walk in at anytime and it is presentable. I just don't like clutter but that is my personality.

I can see how a van would get that way though. It seems like kids can never remember to pick up anything or remember that they took stuff out to the car so should remember to bring it back in. What's a mom to do? Telling them a hundred times doesn't work!

I totally get you with the second home comment. I think we may actually have more clutter in our van than in our home (okay, maybe not, but it's so much smaller, it seems so!). I feel so much better when it's cleared of clutter...cleaning and vacuuming helps too.

I came across your blog from Simple Woman's blog, and I love it so far. I'll be back often!

We clean our van out twice a month and I am always shocked by what I find!! It's crazy what kids carry along with them for a ride and never carry back in again. Someday...
